  Overview

The Triple-A Fitness & Aerobic Regional Qualifier events are open to everyone and they are a perfect opportunity for instructors and class members alike, to add a little more challenge to their fitness regimens, routines and lifestyles. No advance practice is necessary. Costumes are not required and music will be provided if you do not have your own selection. Contestants may compete in the following categories and divisions:
CATEGORIES DIVISIONS SUBDIVISIONS
Aerobics Adult/Juniors/Masters* Singles/Doubles/Trios/Quads Plus
Step Adult Only Singles/Doubles/Trios/Quads Plus
Hip-Hop/Jazz-Funk Adult/Juniors* Singles/Doubles/Trios/Quads Plus

*Junior Division is Ages 6-18. 17 and 18 year-olds may choose either the Junior or Adult Division. Masters Division is Age 40 Plus - Men & Women Singles Only

There are two ways to participate in a District Qualifier:
1) Participate in the "Follow-the-Leader" instructional rounds prior to the final judging rounds.
2) Arrive with a prepared routine, bypassing the "Follow-the-Leader" instructional rounds, and proceeding directly to the final judging rounds.

  "Follow-the-Leader" Instructional Rounds

Aerobic, Hip-Hop & Step, Adult and Junior competitors who do not have a prepared routine, must participate in the watch and follow style rounds, which we call the Triple-A Fitness "Follow-the-Leader" Aerobic Fitness & Dance Challenge. During these instructional rounds, all contestants will learn a one-minute Aerobic, Step and/or Hip-Hop/Jazz-Funk routine, depending on the category they've entered. More than one category is acceptable. Competitors in each category will learn the same routine at the same time. After learning the routine, contestants are encouraged to modify the routine according to their own movement and comfort level. Participants are advised not to stray too far from the original choreography. These rounds can last some time between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the format established by the promoters for that particular event. After these rounds have been completed, there will be a break. The promoters of each event will determine the length of this break. The break is provided so that each participant will have ample time to review, modify and practice the routines learned.

Final Judging Rounds and Judging Criteria

After the break period has ended, the final judging rounds will begin. At that time, those with prepared routines will join those who participated in the "Follow-the-Leader" instructional rounds. The judges will score all routines individually or in accordance with the division entered (e.g. as a double, triple or group). All participants in the District Qualifiers will be judged in the following three (3) areas only: Execution, Endurance and Excitement! There are no strength or flexibility movements required and no one-armed pushups or splits required. There are no extra or special points awarded for gymnastic style moves or tricks, although they are allowed. There are no other specific rules, however tumbling movements such as round-offs, back handsprings or cartwheels are prohibited. Please remember, this is not a gymnastic event! Gymnastic moves can be executed in the Triple-A Fitness Legacy events. Prizes will be awarded to the three (3) highest scorers in each division.

Advancing to the Triple-A Fitness & Aerobics International Grand Finals after Qualifying

The top five (5) participants in each division will advance to the International Grand Finals (IGF) Championship. At that event, all finalists from the Regioanl Qualifiers must compete with their own prepared routine(s). It is recommended that newer participants use the routine they qualified with as a "base" while preparing for the finals. That base routine, combined with some additional modifications listed in the Official Championship Rules and Guidelines Handbook, will help ensure your success, and you will save on expensive choreography and coaching fees. The Official Handbook contains the complete IGF event rules and judging regulations. If you have qualified, or if you have been invited to participate in the International Grand Finals, you are responsible for obtaining a copy of the International Grand Finals Rules & Guidelines from the Triple-A Fitness & Aerobics headquarters far enough in advance to prepare for the event. The top winners will receive prizes that may include International Grand Finals medals, trophies, and/or sponsor gifts. Success at the IGF depends strictly upon following the rules and guidelines.
